Round Scratch Carved
Wooden Norwegian Box

It is scratch carved with repeating designs.  The top lifts off easily if laces are matched when going together.  It is 9 1/4 inches in diameter at the top.  It is 4 5/8 inches high.  The lacing is in excellent condition.

  It is dated on the bottom 1847 with the intials JL and DL (I think).  The top is 3 1/4 inches high and the bottom is 4 3/16 inches high, when together there is a large overlap.  There is some slight imperfection where someone renailed or repegged the side to the bottom.  Not very noticeable. 

A really sweet and unusual box.
