Hand made with original paint, date, and initials.  They don't get much better than this.  It is 11 inches long, 2 7/8 inches wide at the widest place, and 2 inches high. 

The base is carved out of one piece of wood, the top is carved from one piece of wood, the wooden hinge is carved and it is held closed by a piece of twig.  The razor that came with it is inside. 

The underside has a date of 1815 and the initials LIS (I think).  This is a sweet early primitive.
